Staying active is equivalent to staying alive for me.
As I will narrate my journey from skinny to active, you will get an idea why I said the first line.
I never struggled with keeping weight off. In fact putting on weight and keeping it that way was an issue.
The only exercise was swimming that I would do occasionally during summers. Sports was not my thing.
Fast forward into my college life I actually started noticing people taking their workouts seriously. I still was okay doing my dancing.
Got married few years later and suddenly started gaining weight and then I came face to face with exercising to manage my weight and feel energized. Although whatever I do I couldn’t loose weight but exercising would certainly give me joy and I would feel strong.
That was after few years when I conceived my daughter I came to know I had Hypothyroid. As you know hypothyroid is basically slower metabolism which eventually leads to weight gain. And weight gain is just one side effect.
I had to get on medication immediately.
Post pregnancy I made a pact to myself of walking an hour every day and eating healthy and later on attached some stretching and yoga to it. I have been more or less consistent with my routine for over a decade now.
One thing I realized is that staying healthy with that fresh glow on your face and feeling enthusiastic is the most important thing.
Skinny or fat really doesn’t matter.
Staying active matters and that leads to staying alive.
